Wounded in battle while protecting his sister Furiae, he is forced to make a pact with a red dragon named Angelus as they journey together on a quest to prevent the Empire from destroying magical seals that keep the world in balance. The player controls Caim, a deposed prince of the Union, in his quest for vengeance against the Empire. The story is set during a religious war between two factions-the Union and the Empire-with the war tipping in favor of the Empire. The game is the first installment of the Drakengard series and features a mixture of ground-based hack-and-slash, aerial combat, and role-playing elements which have become a staple of the series. The pacing could be better, but it's still a great experience nonetheless. In summary, Triangle Strategy is yet another great tactical RPG that melds intriguing storytelling with strategic turn-based battles. For such a narrative-driven game, though, the pacing is poor and feels like it's dragging its feet at times. Interact with them at your Encampment, equip them with gear from the Sundry Shop, and test their skills in Mental Mock Battles. The turn-based gameplay is expectedly high-quality as you choose from a roster of characters with unique abilities for a small but highly skilled squad. The story will unravel in different ways depending on your actions and how you decide to deal with events. Makes decisions based on three major pillars, namely Utility, Morality, and Liberty. Hence, begins your political adventure filled with deceit and manipulation across all levels of the kingdom. The story in, to put it simply, is a slow burn that permeates with every decision you make.
